UPS was in Europe before Fed Ex served the lower 48......
UPS has been around 100 years. How old is Fred again?????
Followed US into operating your OWN airline (1988)
Followed US into growing the fleet with venerable 727
Followed US into flying direct to ASIA (you 1990, US 1988)
Followed US into buying the most economical W/B twin - A300
Followed US into buying MD-11's
Followed US into buying the A380
Followed US into cancelling the A380

And mark my words, 777 orders for you are forthcoming! Just as soon as we prove that it is the most economical W/B freighter ever made.

Fedex Fact - Today FEDEX EXPRESS HAS the world's LARGEST all-cargo air fleet, including McDonnell-Douglass MD-11s and Airbus A-300s and A-310s. The planes have a total daily lift capacity of more than 26.5 million pounds. In a 24-hour period, the fleet travels nearly 500,000 miles while its couriers log 2.5 million miles a day – the equivalent of 100 trips around the earth.

Fedex Fact - In fiscal year 1983 Federal Express reported $1 billion in revenues, making American business history as the FIRST company to reach that financial hallmark inside ten years of start-up without mergers or acquisitions.

Don't kid yourself. Your still run like a trucking company with some jets.

Nothing personal, but gots to defend my boys.

Mawk 90,

Not so sure I buy your premise about how UPS copies Fed-ex

I'd rather be flying DC-8's ( a man's jet ) 747's, brand spanking new 757's, 767's than the stuff UPS suppossedly copied from you guys....crap-busses..DC-10's, MD-11's (SCUDS)...I do hope we buy 777's but as far as following your lead ,the jets you fly are nothing to brag about, hell even our 727's have new engines glass and HUDs!!!
You do have an impressive facility! You win hands down there.
By the way the MD-11 is nick-named SCUD because when its launched you never know where it will land!!
PS. what commuter did you fly at before Fed-Ex?
Later,

And my wanker is longer and bigger than yours!!!! Just kidding, but I knew this thread would degenerate into this. BOTH companies have their plusses and minuses. I agree with Frieghtbird - let's hope that we stay at the forefront of the pilot profession.

I'll take the trucking company with some airplanes. It's amazing how much Next Day Air and Second Day Air in the UPS system never sees an aircraft. I'll take the profit dollars over aircraft.

I agree both companies are very good. Both copy each other and that is why they are the best in the business!!!!!!!!!

Yah. Gosh! I just wish they could truck more of our freight. That way we wouldn't have so many of those pesky airplanes!
