Air Canada 767-300s to Fedex?
Saw a post on flightinfo saying Fred may have snagged Air Canada's 767-300s. Supposedly we were in the hunt for those airframes for several months. Anyone know the scoop on those birds?

uh ... several thoughts on that one?
Haven't heard a thing on the line but ...
I've always heard the advantage of the A300 was that it's able to hold 2 LD3's side by side. The same container, of course, that we use on our MD/DC -10/11. It makes for quick trans-loads at our A310 hubs in CDG and SFS as well as our domestic hubs.
The 767, I've read, is a different animal ... LD2s and LD8s are ULDs designed specifically for one type of aircraft, the 767. This is because the 767 has a narrower fuselage than other wide-body aircraft. This would make me think the 767 might be a non-starter for FedEx. Except for the 757/767 common type rating, what else would it offer FedEx?
That said ... FedEx seems to have been on a rabid aircraft acquisition lately, 777's, 757's and a bunch more A300's along with at least several MD-11's. Maybe they're having trouble finding enough lift?
FedEx also has an aircraft acquisition department that 'wheels and deals' aircraft for a profit. Maybe they got a really good deal on them (we seems to have lots of cash) and intend to put them up for sale on the open market. They've done that before.

Rumor around UPS for a while has been that we bought them. PPrune has Air Canada guys saying that they would be surprised if they were for sale as they were just having new interiors installed in them
