Japan to prosecute for FDX NRT crash
In the Japan Times June 11th, japan will continue to attempt to prosecute the deceased Capt and FO killed in the FDX 80 crash. Whatever their cultural or legal processes are, japan is truly whacked, IMHO.
Low class irresponsible action that would accomplish what goal(s)?

Just a guess but if they are convicted, it will probably allow airlines to sue FedEx for lost revenue due to the flight disruptions caused by the accident. Japan Airlines and ANA being the two most affected and I'm quite sure they have their tentacles deep into the JAA.

This is SOP in Japan. Flying for a Japanese carrier the leasing company provided us with insurance for just such a thing. I remember that a GARUDA crash in Fukuoka resulted in the crew being prosecuted. It was dismissed and the crew was allowed to go home. Other than the embarrasment of this, it is not unusal and nothing will come of it. However, it should be a warning to the union to ensure that crews are protected from any litigation expenses if God forbid another accident happens inJapan.

Yup (I think). If I remember correctly, two US Embraer pilots were bringing a jet back from Brasil when they collided with a Brasilian 737. The Embraer was able to land, the 737 crashed killing everyone. Those pilots were jailed in Brasil for a pretty long time.
