I don't think they've ever publicly acknowledged this:

It doesn't surprise me. Japan relies heavily on efficiency. If something inhibits that efficiency, it's a very big deal.

Many individuals kill themselves by jumping in front of trains. Guess what happens when they kill themselves. People then can't get to work. The government will come after the family of the individual who killed themselves, and try to get compensation for all of those individuals who were late.

My train unfortunately got held up on the way to school once due to someone jumping in front of it.

Granted that's someone's choice vs. an accident, but still.

Yeah, it's really gotta suck when you're late for school. Especially with such a lame excuse. Principles office for you boy-chick.

What are you even talking about? Are you as dense as lead? I didn't say I agree with it, I was stating how it was.

Hey, anything is worth a shot.

Well maybe not. I bet it wouldn't last more than an hour anyway. That's kinda the point though.

Yeah, probably so. That said, you could have picked some better words to describe the situation, because the ones you used showed a total lack of empathy for the individual who took his/her own life.

We also are guilty... Smallpox blankets, trail of tears ect. Ect. Just throwing that out there.
