I think its wrong that they're doing this, but in my case, doc visits every time, because I had to. Also, if you don't know a doctor "socially" (kid's classmate's parent, from your golf club, from your gun club, from your flying club, etc....) that can get you a Dr note, you need to get out more! I have about 5-6 Dr friends that can get me note on short notice, if needed.

- When you change status to sick?
No, their secret parameter program does not appear to run instantaneously --- rather, it looks back at sick calls ins the day prior, and then performs it's magic generating the auto email the next day
- When a trip gets removed ?
Once again it doesn't appear to be instantaneous, but this is a good question
If a pilot calls in sick, then calls in well over days he's not working, is this "counted" as a "sick event" in their formula??
(ie - Do they really care about your fitness to fly if it doesn't directly impact a trip??)
The true answer would be quite telling, but once again "transparency" is only a management buzzword, not an actual practice
- When you call in well?
Nope, it seems to occur the day after you call in sick
But given that not all medical conditions require seeing a doctor, if the company directs it then you still have 10 days to get the note
Thus, you can rightfully call in well, even go fly --- but then take the full 10 days to see a doc and produce the note
It's the companies choice to incur these unnecessary medical expenses

What's missing here folks is the parameters of this sick note generator.
They say it takes certain factors into account but they have not revealed the precise settings.
That is wrong. It should be totally transparent to be in compliance with our CBA. The calls, and need, for transparency in many have been made but always fall on deaf ears. Things that TOTALLY depend on transparency, like PiBS, can only be described as a non-starter. Any manager mentioning the sick note generator and PiBS should be mercilessly mocked.
It is part of the fear machine. It's meant to pilot push and deter sick calls. If I fly with someone obviously sick and get sick as a result, I'm going to file a POR, call the FAA and go to BM's office to get him sick too.
