I can guarantee you if I'm forced to see a doctor to get a note it won't be an out of pocket expense...I'll be using the Fredit Card for the co-pay just like we use it for non-contract hotels and NOCAT.

I went sick and missed a 6hr trip for the first time ever and received a notice that "REQUESTED" a doctors note within 10days. Well, request denied. I have no note and am not getting a note and if I get an irregularity report well, I'll ignore that too.

Good luck with that. What are the guidelines and rules that correspond to the conditions of our contract say about that?

You have two choices: you can help negotiate a contract for inclusion of a doctors visit as a company expense or you can try to get your manager to massage the system for you.

To require a doctor's note without a holiday conflict the Company must have "a good faith, and objective reason to question a pilot's use or attempted use of sick leave." It cannot be arbitrary and capricious, or for every sick call in, otherwise it's harassment...game on.

2 for 2. First time got the PAC notice one week after I called in well. I called head of PAC, SV twice a day for 9 days and left message for her to call me back......nothing. Several emails also requesting what the "good faith and objective reason" for my note demand. One day after I sent in the Note, the PAC and SV sent me a email rescinding the demand for a sick note. Of course, I had already sent in the Note, so I sent in a new email stating the BS of this whole situation. I also cc: the Union/Grievance committee on every note and email regarding Sick, which I recommend we all do. Next time I'm cc'ing Lamar Alexander, Bob Corker and Steve (bought and paid for) Cohen. Maybe the Commercial Appeal and WSJ next time also. SV actually told me not to cc: the Union, and I vehemently disagreed with her view, and said I would cc whomever I wanted to.

Any reference to reimbursement or having the company approval of the use of the credit card as a means of payment?

The fact is you (we) are not entitled to be reimbursed any cost for seeing a doctor to verify that you are, in fact, sick. We tacitly agreed to abide by the company rules (contract) that you quoted. The absence of any restriction from filing an expense report or to use the company issued credit card, for this does not mean that it is appropriate to do so.

Union's advice is to answer the request and tell them you did not get a note.

MD11HOG...

Not to disagree with you on this, but where are you getting this information?

Has there been any statement by the union on this?

Also, has there been any attempt by the union to collect any data from line pilots with regard to doctors note requests, or are we just going to take it in the shorts again on another grievance?

The Pilot Harassment Center (PHC) asks for a doctors note every time for me. I don't see a "good faith or objective" reason behind it.

Default Thank-X-Mas

I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If every day of the year is like Thanksgiving and Christmas in terms of providing a doctors note, then Thanksgiving and Christmas could be like every day of the year in terms of calling in sick. I would not be surprised to see, though I'm not advocating, 50+ trips in a variety of seats in open time at 0700 MEMTime the day before both of those holidays.

Under this new policy, what difference does it make? #BACKFIRE

If we need a note for every sick call it makes calling in on the holidays just like any other day, doesn't it? No longer a big deal.

So be it. I had my doc write a 1-sentence letter, goes like this: "pilot X is unable to work and will be not be returning until further notice." Period.

They want a letter, they can have a letter. I'll pay my 20 bucks, Fred can pay them $149 per, and I'll stay home to lick my wounds and heal.

Dropping a trip to avoid this is not going to happen.
