Fdx disapproved, insufficient reserves
I'm a 757 F/O and am unable to move any r-days, regardless of the amount of guys on reserve or the amount (or lack thereof) of open time. Are there other avenues of trading or giving away reserve days that I don't know about? I'm desperate to drop or give away one day on May 31st. Any 757 F/O's that want a couple or one extra day of reserve at the end of the month, PM me. Thanks in advance.

BF2,
I would estimate I spent 5 years as an MD-11 Capt. on "B" Reserve. Over those 5 years I bet more than 90% of my schedule adjustment requests (of any kind) were DENIED - INSUFFICIENT RESERVES. Even when there was no open time?
On the rare occasion that I could get a scheduler to talk about it, they would admit that "they don't give us very many choices for denying schedule changes" (seemingly of ANY type). I'm betting the scheduling computer's default "NO" is "Insufficient Reserves" and that all the scheduler has to do is hit their return key.
I now believe that they have a "Just say No Policy" (directed by Management?)
Return, Return, Return, Return, Return ... and they've taken care of 5 trade/drop requests?
If you have a legitimate (or even semi-legitimate) reason for needing time off, I recommend that you email your Fleet Captain and follow up with a phone call. Explain that you've tried moving, trading and dropping without success. They're sometimes reasonable fixing schedule problems.
We shouldn't have to contact Management for simple schedule adjustments? Is there a way to address this in contract negotiations?

If you are that desperate it sounds like you will be unable to perform your duties IAW the FARs. Personally I would not want to fly with you. Advise your Fleet Captain that you are unable to perform your duties 100% and tell them you can either move my R day, put me on sick leave, or drop the day with out pay.
If you aren't 100% ready and able to concentrate on your flying duties call sick, just be prepared to send the note.
$20 co-pay versus R day X your Hr/rate. Do the math and don't support this tom foolery.
