Curious FDX Schedule Change
Just a question to see if anyone has seen this before and can answer the question "why"? I bid and was awarded a single departure line for MAR with a front end DH and a Mid-Trip DH. MEM trip and it was also awarded to a MEM Capt (I'm the FO). So I check today and the Capt side of the trip has been revised into two separate trips. The overall trip footprint has not changed because I'm still on the original trip with no changes to anything. But on the Capt side, the first half of the trip has been assigned to an ANC Capt with a double DH and the last part of the trip has the original Capt still on it but now with a double DH. They make the switch when I do the Mid-Trip DH. No line-checks or any special notes that I see. The first half is now shown as an XTRA pairing for the ANC Capt who picked it up. I've just never seen something like this and was wondering if anyone else has. Keep in mind that the actual trip has not changed one bit from what was printed in the bid pack. Curious

I don't have any knowledge of the circumstances here, but it's possible that the Capt had some reason he can't make the first part of the trip… family issue, or something. If so, he could have called the Fleet Capt and asked for some relief that wouldn't involve dropping or sub for the whole trip.
Anecdotally, the current MEM MD-11 FC seems to be developing a reputation for being reasonable with these type issues.
Again, a possible explanation. I've seen it done before, but I don't claim to know the details of this case.
