I don't understand the unions position on this. A select few individuals are "cheating" 25% of the pilot force in the 2 things we work hard negotiating, compensation and quality of life. There is no way these individuals are simply hawking open time and always beating the other hundreds of pilots doing the same. This is ridiculous.

You noticed that too. This guy is a real piece of work! I'd love to find out who recommended him.

I get that our union is not into policing its own. However, this issue seems a little more complex than that. The union IS about protecting the line pilot who abides by the contract. So, how are the other MEM MD11 FO's being protected from this apparent abuse? To me, it seems like they are not.

Now, I'm not saying that I know exactly how these guys do this, or if it is being done illegally or against the CBA. But, if the suspicions from this thread are correct, this needs to be dealt with! I would be p***ed if I was a MEM MD11 FO playing by the rules, specially if I was senior to the "wolf pack". But, even though I'm not in that seat, and I'm junior to the guys referenced, these actions still affect me, as they affect all of us. To me, this is no different than having a few guys with special handshake deals outside the CBA, being paid a rate 25% higher. How would our union deal with that? I can't imagine the response would be "we don't police our own".

Hopefully this gets the attention it deserves and is fixed ASAP. We need a level playing field for all.

Default How do they do it?

Many years ago, when I was an MD-11 f/o I flew with a Captain that seemed to get more than his share of good deals? He's been retired for years now so the probability that he'll hear about this is probably low ...

By the end of our 10 day trip he'd basically admitted to paying the scheduler CASH for every DRAFT trip that he received!*? I wonder who the scheduler would call first?

I assume the "wolfpack" must have a similar "scheme" in the works? How else do they consistently get trips the first minute they are posted. I don't seem to be able to get trip trades processed for hours?

Enquiring minds want to know ...

I have heard that there is "GIFTING" going on pilot(s) to scheduler(s)...I would not be surprised if it still takes place...

Default Open House Today

Don't forget to attend the Family Awareness Open House today at Kirby. There will be all the reps and officers there as well as the negotiating committee…….

Easy to ask them this question and let them know your concerns as well as make a good showing, and get some free food…….

imagine this "Munch munch munch slurp (Chicken wing noises)…..so hey Scott….(chew, chew, celery snap )what's the deal with the 'Wolf Pack' and all the charters man?"

If everyone that went mentioned it to the block rep, it might get a little attention. If you just sit behind your screen in your reserve uniform (Sweaty boxers and t-shirt) then nothing will happen…..turn the 12 angry men into the twelve hungry and inquisitive men……you also might get a nice update from the negotiating committee. I'll be there will you?

If this is true, perhaps the way to deal with it is to call crew scheduling to see which crew scheduler is on duty each time one of these trips gets assigned. If there is a really a connection, the same crew scheduler's name(s) will keep popping up. We've got some very savvy MD11 FOs here. No 2 or 3 guys can get these charter flights on a consistent basis as it doesn't pass the reasonable man test. It seems to me, by definition, a just culture addresses a situation like this in a swift manner.
Like it or not, this issue has a negative effect on morale. This is not a case of a bunch of sore losers that are getting beat out of trips fair and square. This issue is real and needs to be addressed.
MGMT just might be collecting data right now building a case for termination. Who knows? If that's the case, I'd hate to be one of the guys consistently partaking of these plum charters. Good luck to each one of you.
I'd prefer to call these guys "Geckos" as in Gordon "greed is good" Gecko.

Contacted my block rep and he told me to quit whining. And I didn't even whine. I just asked about what the union was doing about this?
