Charter criminals use bots. PERIOD. Don't let anyone tell you on an anonymous forum, in person, or in front of their mother that they "hawk open time relentlessly" -- they use bots, plain and simple. If asked in front of mgmt or a court of law under subpoena their answer will differ.
If you have been following this for a few years, then you know that each one was asked that question in front of management. Pretty sure their answers didn't change. Not saying they are on the up and up.
I will also tell you that I hawked open time relentlessly for about a year and was very successful... without a bot program. I'm just not that smart or willing to risk my career. Ya don't have to believe me but it's possible. Can't say every trip for years but a lot.
Word is one is gonna pay the ultimate price for "insider trading" very soon and that it's one of the known...

How much will our union pay to defend someone who has violated the ALPA Code of Conduct?
If he gets hammered for this, he should pay for his own defense, IMHO. Why should we pay for someone who is cheating his fellow crew members?

Can you imagine what the outcry would be if our union dues are used to defend these guys? By not decertifying these guys the union is obligated to defend them.

However, what is the point of publishing a Code of Ethics if you're not willing to enforce them? If a pilot is unwilling to follow our code of ethics after a reasonable warning, he should not be allowed continued membership in ALPA. Seems pretty simple to me. Are one pilot's dues that important that we basically forsake our principles to allow every scumbag operator the privilege of membership if they can pay?
Sort of goes along with the unending defense of the indefensible. Whether it's consistently poor performance in training or on the line, sock puppets or habitual thievery, etc. Sooner or later, in order to maintain ANY semblance of credibility, ALPA needs to be willing to call a spade a spade and acknowledge the individual has no business operating any aircraft as a professional pilot.
It's the company's responsibility to fire a pilot - ALPA just needs to objectively evaluate the situation and sometimes make a properly supported decision not to stand in the way.

I don't think ALPA should be in the business of getting pilots fired.

I know a lot of these posts mention charters and that is true, the same guys are always getting the charters but it goes beyond that. The same bunch are also flying the really nice x pairings that show up with all the deadheads around the world. Charters are only part of the problem. I was also told the same thing that was stated earlier, there are bots that can actually go in and change the time stamp for their submission to be number 1 no matter how many have already been submitted. The guy who told me this seemed pretty knowledgeable on how the whole system works. He actually said there were 6 of them (many with employee numbers very close together - like same new hire class) and they actually had some cute name they called themselves. Can't remember the name but something like "It's all about me boys", no wait a minute, that's my name for them. True story that they have a name for themselves.
