I check open time all the time, and the only international trips I seem to get are to DTW and EWR. "Earlier time stamp" is my middle name. Yet one individual (MD11 FO) has the following...

CDG-MXP-MEM = 20.47
HNL -DH = 17.47
DH STN-DEL DH = 37.42
CDG-(DH) DXB-CAN-DH = 42.40

All of the above were Jan / Feb 14.

This is a miniscule snapshot of what this guy is doing. Before he was calendar blocking you could see he would regularly get 2 or 3 REALLY good deal trips every month. I'm lucky if I can snatch 1 or 2 a year.

Call it XTRA, call it open time, call it what you will, but this guy is not on the same playing field with all his peers.

There's a reason they block their calendars!

I think calendar blocking should be a function of joint approval by ALPA and CP. There are legitimate times for doing it and it would be approved in those rare cases (stalking/harassment, divorce when both pilots are FDX, etc) but the mere process of requesting a block will usually (1) draw attention to and cease the stalking/harassment or (2) be denied due to unethical reasons for requesting the block and result in a follow-on investigation. It is a self policing policy for those who use bots or have a hook up in skeds...can't hide your actions from your peers who you are buddy-******ing. I know the last thing we want is more management power...but this might not be a bad idea.

I agree. The more senior people would be dropping better trips into open time with such a system. The window could also be kept short, so those more needing to swap would be checking more and still have some advantage.

I already went to Pro Standards and my rep about this atrocity. I am VERY familiar with the individuals involved and I've been VERY vocal about getting this fixed for well over two years. I could write pages on the stuff I've learned and the BS that I've seen that is happening right underneath our collective noses and most of the crew force knows nothing about it, nor do many of them care.

I echo'd AFW and Jethro above because they're SPOT ON!

The obvious: this problem is limited to the MEM MD11.

The charter criminals number around 4-6 for each seat.

This has been going on a very long time -- it's not a recent event. Years.

The charter criminals calendar block. PERIOD.

Charter criminals use bots. PERIOD. Don't let anyone tell you on an anonymous forum, in person, or in front of their mother that they "hawk open time relentlessly" -- they use bots, plain and simple. If asked in front of mgmt or a court of law under subpoena their answer will differ.

Don't be naive; if we have BidX Pro and Fx Cal and the amazing and extremely helpful things that those programs do for us then it's not an extension AT ALL to have a program and/or a script on multiple devices, controlled from anywhere in the world on your smartphone, that can be used to gain advantage over other guys that are playing fairly that cannot or may not be detected by the company.

I have a friend who says there is at least 1 guy in the 777 right seat with either a BOT or a close friend in Scheduling.
