Default FDX: Landing currency/Trip pull

I go non-current 18 February. I've bid the trips which will get me the landings first, but now I'm down to the nitty-gritty.

If I get awarded a trip which leaves on the 8th, and returns on the 20th and has the opportunity for 9 landing before I drop dead, will they remove me from that trip on the off chance that I won't get my landings?

Yes, I already called scheduling, and they weren't really any help ("it's an automated system that will pull you from the trip if you are non-current before the trip leaves," was the answer I got).

My next call is to C.E. and maybe training.

Maybe you can get some sort of special approval (ha!), but though I am no expert, I am dead sure they will remove you from the trip at a specific time before it leaves (I have no idea how many days it is). We are ruled by the automated system, it doesn't think about whether you'll get the landings during the trip before you go non-current. It won't allow you to take the trip, nonsensical or not. The computer rules. Maybe it will let you keep it if a check airman is on board? I don't know.

Like I said, I'm no expert, but I am positive you will lose this trip. Get your currency, or that trip is gone!

Yes, I'm pretty sure you will get pulled from the trip. Since that trip would take you into a period of non-currency, they will pull you before it starts.

Why not just call the sim schedulers and get a 3/3. In the 777 it's a common event. You could do that before your trip on the 8th and then you're good to go.

I think they'll pull you 5 days prior to the departure. That is from deep in the memory banks when I had a similar situation.

I had this same situation several years ago. I e-mailed the captain, confirmed with him that he would be willing to give me the first three landings on the trip, and then called my chief pilot to get permission to stay on the trip. He OK'ed it, flew the trip, got the first three landings and was good to go.
So, try calling your chief pilot. All he can do is say no.

I had a similar situation, received no useful assistance, and finally called 3 days prior and requested 3&3 in the sim the morning before I departed on the trip.
When in doubt call the training schedulers.

You will get pulled off the trip. The captain could get sick/dispalced/trade out etc. The replacement captain could be high mins, and then you get no landings. Had this happen on a trip that had 8 landings- thought I'd be current for another 3 months, captain traded out, new guy on hi mins. Gear yanker for 10 days.

Unless you can work out a deal like hyperone, plan to get a 3/3 in the sim. It's painless, and pays 4.5 hrs. I personally found it to be a good refresher. Only downside is if you're a commuter it adds another day or two. They schedule them at 0500 or so, thus enabling you to take your scheduled trip the next 0x00 showtime the next day.
