Sometimes, just sometimes, the company "gets it", or at least someone within convinces the powers that be that there is a way of satisfying everyone.
Not saying it happens all the time, or even most of the time, but sometimes they do get it right (think: sleep rooms).

I don't think it's a "cargo cutout" issue. I think this thing is about mitigating the effects of the new rest rules that the Company assumed would effect them. If a company has a fatigue reduction plan, i.e. sleep rooms, they can mitigate some of what they perceived as detrimental effects of the new rules. So now, if the cargo cutout goes away, the Company will still have their fatigue migration plan and thus be good to go.

That was a little white lie. They are pretty good now, not so great at the time of that writing.

I can't remember the exact year, but we got sleep rooms when the AOC opened, I'm thinking 99 or 2000? By any stretch, long before the (fatigue) discussion raised by the Colgan crash.

Don, we had sleep rooms, although not many of them (around 25, if I remember correctly) well before the year 2000. If you remember, they were located directly across the street from the old AOC, in those two trailers. For sure they were there as far back as 1990.

Steve,
I know what your talking about, but I don't think most of us really considered theses "rooms". More like a semi private lounge area.
When they opened the AOC, we got rooms, just not enough if everyone who did a hub turn wanted one. They just recently opened the (former) locker area as a much larger area with sleep rooms. The old AOC area is still there and rooms are handed out early to international pilots who commute in early to get a legal rest before the long departures out of Memphis. How's CT? kinda cold, with snow I guess.
Still playing racket ball ?

Don,
They were actually rooms, with doors, locks, beds, some even had window air conditioners to supplement the central A/C that ran through those trailers. They had "In Use" signs on the doors and most guys would clip their ID card next to the sign in case the company needed to wake you up early.
Yeah it's cold here, but it's a dry cold. Retirement is working out fine and I'm playing as much ball as ever, if not more. Gotta do something to fill up the day.
Happy New Year Don. Do you ever hear from Jim Camp?
