Anyone know how the business is going there? I heard the loads are dismal and couldnt break margin on the 75/76. I know they were hoping for the 737 lift to emerge from some carriers but could make it materialize. Some of the pay proposals from a few airlines were well below commuter standards for the 73 frieghter. DHL has always struggled here despite being the largest in the industry (worldwide). They set an industry standard on how fast they could crash a profitable airline. Ive heard internaly they are below profitability again after dumping money into the facility in June.

They sure do have a lot of ribbon cutting ceremonies. Google search "DHL in for the long haul at CVG".

We do that non stop all the time, the 400F hauls about 75 tons and the -8F is hauling about 90 tons, on the flights I have done out of CVG. 14+ hour flight to ICN & NRT

I can't speak to the financial side (just don't pay attention), but there has been growth in CVG and I've assumed they are profitable there. My impression has been that the hub is operating near capacity. The 767 is over capacity for a few domestic cities. I was assuming the 737 would move into some of those city pairs, though DHL made statements about the 737 "expanding" the domestic system. There's also been talk of the first 737's replacing some older aircraft currently operating out of CCS. Southern was awarded the 737 contract and is working to bring the aircraft on line next year.

Has the 737 contract been awarded to Southern by DHL, or have their pilots approved a proposal to fly them? I know the pilots have a approved a proposal, but I live in the Cincinnati area and haven't seen a press release on any of the local news.

In August Southern announced to their employees that they had "won the bid for 737 flying with DHL," and had executed a letter of intent to enter into a long-term agreement. Signing of the long-term agreement would presumably wait until Southern has added the aircraft to their certificate, a work still in progress.
