FAA reiterates stance on PIC authority re: jumpseats
The FAA had a sitdown with UPS and the IPA yesterday in DC. the FAA restated that the PIC has "absolute" authority with regard to jumpseat occupancy on any given flight. A PIC will not be challenged or subjected to company questioning. No records will be kept by the company on such occurrences. Furthermore, the PIC is not required to furnish an explanation for any jumpseat denials.

Discord or distraction on the flight deck are and will always be a safety issue. I have made the call on J/S'rs on this criteria. Check the lists of who might need a ride to Asia in the "near" future. Hope they don't ask me........

A couple of crewmembers who are very arguementative and do not work well with the rest of the crewforce. A real distraction which lends itself to an unsafe working condition. Won't get a ride with me either.
