Default What has the union done for us lately

1.Has the union put out one piece of paper educating us on the new contract?
There were the roadshows, but how many got to attend?
2. Are we sitll getting assesed the contingency percentage? Yes and how long will this continue and will that amount be refunded minus expenses?
3. Is there a reason the resolutions are written as a legal brief....How bout writing it in pilot friendly language!
4. Does the union have a requirement to let the membership know why certain people have been fired from the UNION WITH NO EXPLAINATION?
5. Are officers expense reports open to the membership to see?

Maybe we should all be asking these and more questions. What do you have to say?

Sounds like your ****ed off. Or maybe just ****ed. Have you brought any of these issues up with your block rep or the appropriate MEC members? You haven't listed any real specifics for your above questions. Personally, I'm pretty happy with our current leadership. They (with our support) delivered a pretty good contract.

Maybe YOU should volunteer to help educate the rest of us on the contract. Why don't you go to the source (MEC) for the answers to your questions?. You can report back to us with your findings.

42GO,
So that we have a frame of reference, which airline do you work for?

He works for FDX and is on board with all managment propaganda. He doesn't think you know about real life. (See his old post) Don't bother to answer his questions, He wouldn't take time to help you.

I work at FEDEX,I like the contract, and could care less about managment propaganda. I do, however, think these are relevant questions that each of us should ask the union to provide answers to....and I belong to the union as do most of you do...that doesn't change the relevance of the questions. Hog, why is it that you don't think I know about real life, and tell me one question that doesn't deserve an answer to both yourself and me and any other member who asks?
The help you part, I don't understand......just asking relevant questions that every member deserves answers to.

I'm sure your Block Rep would be happy to entertain any or all of those questions.

1) You're college educated, read the contract. I've heard it said on several occassions that a good part of work the Contract Administration folks had to do was the result of pilots not knowing the contract, and having to be taught. Take a little pride in yourself -- read the thing. If you have specific questions, AFTER you've read it, then fire away.

2) Dues are paid in arrears. Dues paid in Novemeber are based on September's pay (if I recall correctly). Be patient. At least you aren't being charged at the wrong rate, as with the first month of the last contract with FPA.

3) Yes, because they're legal documents. Again, if you have questions, that's what Block Reps do.

4) No, but... here it comes again, feel free to ask your Block Rep.

5) Yes. Go to the office and ask.

Pssssst. Huck. The next one will be bigger.

I'm not a FedEx pilot, but I am in the same union. Every time I have a Union question, I pick up the phone and call my Status Rep.

Yeah...ALPA rips me off too...all the time. Why do we need some contract in legalese? (Sarcasm light ON)

I've been bumped off about 150 hours plus of trips this year. ONE trip bump probably covers about all my annual dues. The contract we have is full of good deals that more than offset any dues I pay. I think our ALPA guys did a hell of a good job in a very tough environment.

Anytime I've ever had a question--Sleepy Reed was the man with the answers or he'd find the guy that COULD answer it.

Nice try stirring the pot, however. I'm sure everyone will dive in with you, starting complaining about the union....right after they get back from Best Buy or the car dealer having spent their bonus checks...
