5. And you think if I went to the ALPA office and asked to see everyones expense accounts, they would smile and lay them out for me...and what planet do you live on....????? They most probably have a rolling tab at Ruths Chris, just check there on any given night....its a small union meeting room every nite.

This isn't about anti ALPA. I'm a member and have been. This is about OUR association being open and up front with its members...that;s all!!!
I hope this idiot gets sued for libel. You can use my dues money for it! I think I'll forward this to my block rep.

What a ridiculous statement! Everyone knows that Tony knows everything.

Keep up the good work, Tony.

If you don't know then why would you make such a claim.

When did the Union get the power to hire/fire. Yes I understand that an ALPA scab probably won't get hired, but that's due to people using the "blackball" with management. I didn't realize that I had to go to the Kirby office instead of going to Jack's office to get terminated. If the Union "fired" me why does Fred sign my check? (actually no one signs my check since I get it via direct deposit and there's no signature on the pay stubb I get in the mail). If I quit the Union (non-member on dues check-off) I guess they couldn't fire me anymore could they since I "fired" them first.

I think he meant fired from their union position (or asked to step down). I believe there have been several of those.

The union won't talk about that publicly, nor will they comment on firings/discipline by the company either, due to confidentiality and legal reasons!

Hmmm ... interesting thought. I was thinking maybe it was Foxhunter by a different name. He hasn't been on his high horse bashing the union lately. You been feeling OK George?

42GO,
Even though we don't live in an Asian country, "face" is still very important. I have always followed the axiom, "praise in public, scold in private". If someone screws up big time, be it in politics, business or yes, even as a Union representative they should step down and there are procedures for this in the ALPA by-laws. I remember one time (in 1995) that two Union members petitioned each of us on the MEC to resign. My response to them was for them to propose a resolution and if the members passed it, I would resign, no hard feelings. No resolution was ever proposed.
42GO, if you have a beef, follow the procedures set forth in our constitution and by-laws, until then,...take a break. This isn't the correct forum for this discussion.
Sincerely,
bob cecchi

I guess its a matter of your contract language. In some agency shops, while you don't have to be a member, you do have to pay the equivalent of your dues. If you don't pay some contracts require that your employment be terminated.

Read your contract. Your mileage may vary...
