I understand it's a 5 year max for CGN pilots; when do the first pilots have to return to the US? How big is the domicile?

What is SIBA?

I have found that folks with political views similar to the ones you're displaying are a little challenged in the sense of humor department.

I hate to speak for our CompetentFool but I'll go out on a limb and suggest that the following was meant in JEST(see above)

Now follow me here..... most effective humor has some truth in it. If you get hired here, you will find yourself in the minority when it comes to viewpoints you have claimed in some of your posts. Hence, the JEST. CompetentFool didn't say "change his political leanings TO become purple". His statement basically meant that once you're here, if you choose to share your views on a trip (hint: I would recommend you don't) you're not going fit in as easily (that whole minority thing again).

So, his suggestion was to change your views "BEFORE becoming purple" to make things a little easier for you (but.... since he posted it in JEST, he wasn't really being serious...)I know this is probably blowing your mind

So, there you have it. Now, think really hard about your response if you choose to post one. Because (are you ready??) - this whole post to you was made in JEST also. Isn't humor great?

Good luck and I hope (truly) to see you out on the line here someday.
Great post, but just to let you know, I don't take anything on a public forum personal. Is all laugher and thanks for keeping the laughter going. As for keeping my views to my self on a trip. I think we all are entitled to our own opinion and I avoid such controversial discussions at work. However if you ask for my opinion over a few brews then you'll have them. They won't change regardless of what the majority thinks.

I presume my response passed muster, as I was hired.
Who was asking the question, HR or pilots? Or were they both there at the same time?

They were both there. I can't honestly recall which one asked, it was 2006, but I'll never forget that they asked.

I got asked union questions in my interview too, a decade prior to yours. I suspect they have been asking those types of questions for a long time now.

I interviewed August 2012. There weren't any political/union questions just the typical TMAAT. There were two different panels (we randomly went to just one) and they asked the same questions from a piece of paper they had (script?).

olly,

I'm curious, what was your answer?

I never prepared for questions like that (2007 interview). I am very surprised to hear that 2006 interviewees were still getting those questions because of US companies now steering away from them, due to lawsuits for discrimination against political/religious/sexual/etc...orientation. I would be willing to bet that FDX hasn't asked those questions since 2006, and won't be during future interviews. Although in most of the rest of the world, those questions are still the norm. I experienced that at ANA and Cathay-multiple political/union questions, even a couple about religious affiliation.
