Maybe they think room assignments are seniority based? Some reserve their favorite one too.

Old captain told me years ago - when you leave a sleep room, unlock the door. Some poor probationary pilot might be wandering around, pulling on doors, looking for one to crash in for the night.

I definitely been there on a long bad weather night knowing its gonna hurt and the rooms all be taken. So I got absolutely no problem drawing attention to someone taking advantage at another's expense!

Maybe if there was at least a quiet, dark place to sit that wouldn't freaking happen. Just because you didn't operate in does not mean that you shouldn't be rested when you fly the same metal off the same ramp on the outbound. Fatigue doesn't know what seat you sat in on the way to MEM.

If you jumpseated in you had a chance at a nap on the flight.
