Listening to the Captain discuss having never practiced a short field landing and then watching it.....

Flaps 30, 110K (the bottom of the chart, they'll be under a 100), SL, ISA-5 (again, off the bottom of the chart), no nose brakes, no headwind, dry runway, I get 4250 feet required. Auto spoilers brings it down to 3750 but Braniff didn't buy the auto spoilers as I recall, it's been at least 8 years since I've seen a 727-227.
This is off a 60% rule chart so they should be stopped in 2550.
Shortest I ever got released into was 5001 on Lana'i, oddly enough to carry an air start unit to recover the old Amway 727. They couldn't get their APU to start after being on the island a week.

About 6 months prior to starting college at MTSU in Murfreesboro, FDX donated a 727-100 to the college. It was flown in to KMBT which is the municipal airport. The runway there is 3900 feet long. I heard from eyewitnesses that the crew had it stopped with about 700 feet to spare.
