It looked a little cold for the kilts.

You wouldn't really expect the best of the best, the tip of the sword to be caught slumming it in a 727, would you?! Plus, there weren't any pandas on board to endanger...I mean, transport to Merrill!

The varsity flies the tool box these days. Besides, Chuck had something very important to do in Shanghai that day.

Question, and I am NOT judging nor calling their actions into question, just asking: did the crew come in low then fly up to the touchdown zone?

(I know special places require special procedures. I am not trying to call anyone out. When I flew air ambulances, I was trained to fly into one particular airport in west Texas where we came in just above the fence and touched down on the "piano keys" and it was approved by the FAA even though it meant we landed Prior to the touchdown zone.)

No JSH, it was a normal approach, the video starts with the 727 about 250feet AGL.

They did 2 practice low approaches before the actual landing. They purposefully landed on the numbers for this one.

Either a) the plane came from our Canadian contractor, or b) the plane had been turned over to the aircraft acquisition guys - they're called "feezy" - they buy and sell planes independent of Express. They've been known to use contractors.

I bet the plane turned over at ANC. Probably didn't have a lot of volunteers willing to risk their tickets on a short, snow covered runway.
