It definitely took boeing several weeks to modify their sim in SEA, it's more than just a software swap.

Last I heard they were planning on taking CRJ wings and just taping them to the brown vans... Cargo a la Spaceballs style.

The USPS Contract has NOT been decided on. So just slow down everyone. UPS doesn't have 30%. They still have their 2% and FDX still owns their 90%.

The Contract does not expire until Sept. 2013. The EARLIEST the USPS and the Govt. will decide on the new % is May or June.

So no New Aircraft or Sims until the Summer. And that's IF UPS gets anything. Fred is very good at the back room deals being done on K street in DC.

I predict UPS 20%, FDX 70%, the rest to everyone else.

For what it is worth I flew with one of the "village idiots" recently and he freely spewed about many subjects one of which was the USPS contract.

Word is supposed to come out in February. Possibilities include ups getting 0, 30, 70 or 100%. Interesting numbers, I had to ask what he thought, highly unlikely that we get it all, also unlikely we get none, he predicts 30%. The 30/70 split has something to do with route structure, he babbled on about some crap trying to explain and then I tuned him out and went on auto-nod for the rest of the flight.

Apparently Fred's bid was much lower than expected just to keep the contract. Like I said take it for what it is worth, his lips were moving and he is ups management.

I wonder if US Govt can even sign off on any contracts under the Continuing Resolution and other pending budget issues. Maybe they can, who knows....

With Fred spending Hundreds of Millions on New Aircraft recently and into the future, FDX will Bid under Costs for the Contract. And knowing the Contract will be renewed multiple times for Decades. Fred will be very aggressive. UPS will end up with the crumbs.

Most UPS FOs make well over $200k/year. I agree the last 5 years have been rough for seniority, but I'm happy.

Well, from a UPS perspective, if they get a marginal increase in postal volume then great some extra revenue. If they get it all, even more. If they get none, or minimal, well at least they knocked bid prices down to make FDX undercut and potentially operate at a loss... so it (minutely) weakens your main competitor. They don't really lose at all.

Ps.... Just read some of the threads you started to gauge who you are. I hope all is back on track getting you where you want to be...... Sounds like a long journey but we still need not jump and hurt others to gain slight momentarily gains.....

Don't worry about that guy. He doesn't have a medical and has to get a shrink to approve him before he can. He has "issues".

I'm not complaining about my pay, but if you think that number (WELL over 200k) applies to MOST of our FOs, you should join management ...
