New Aircraft Rumor at UPS
#92
IMO, once that last 767 shows up, as long as Scotty is the CEO, UPS will not purchase another airframe for years. He is ALL about profit growth through efficiency "enhancement" and has no interest in growing the "airline".
A NURP told me that UPS MEANT for the TNT deal to fail.

HAHA. Some of those NURPS are hilarious how they actually think that they are somehow NURP-privy to executive level decisions at UPS because they are "managers."
Fact of the matter is that after all these years at this place, I've learned that the NURPS don't know any more than the line pilots, and if they think they do, then they are drinking the kool aid, because I know a few NURPS personally, and they told me they've admitted that they don't know crap.
Another thing I think is that UPS did want the TNT deal to go through, and they weren't just faking it to get a peak at the books. I also think that the rumors of TNT's demise are grossly exaggerated. TNT isn't some small fly by night company.

One tells me they secretly wanted to nuke the TNT deal to sink them (that's why they cancelled before the announcement), and that $270M is "cheap", and another says they were shocked and disappointed. One says we don't want postal, just want to drive Fred's bid up while others say 33%/66% and that we'll hire. No matter what...ATL will say that they planned everything all along.
And as an added "bonus", the uncertainty of all things necessitates more cost controls and efficiencies at the contract table. Disregard the CEO getting a higher bonus though...we need to retain our "talent".
