Default ITU / R-Days Block

If ITU is scheduled for the middle of the month:

Will bidding a stretch of R-Days from the 9-23rd drop the entire block? i.e. is it similar to Recurrent?

If so, confirm all of these hours go into Makeup?

I understand that any flying bid for the 1st-15th is more or less working for free. Any other suggestions to work the least for the first part of the month?

Can you provide a reference? I have found sections regarding Recurrent and R-Day blocks, but nothing specific to ITU.

Thanks,

G

Others may have better answer. But short version, any activities outside of training plus (12 hr?) buffer will be worked.

The dropping of R day blocks only applies to recurrent training. Your conflict with an R day is covered by section 25.F. Essentially any R day conflicted prior to the start of ITU should generate CIC hours and any R day under the ITU footprint is just paid as a part of your RLG for the month. Bidding lines can generate custom line assignment but you are looking at reserve it appears.

Can you expand on this? I was thinking reserve strictly from a standpoint of getting the entire string to drop.

I will certainly attempt lines that work very little in the beginning of the month.

Can you further explain your custom line comment?

You get a 48hr buffer prior to the start of training. Anything in conflict is dropped. Technically your line is rebuilt as a custom line with all trips/r-days not in conflict with training/buffer on your custom line.

It is possible to have additional trips added if you end up conflicting a trip which starts before the 48hr buffer.

Sect 25.I.3.e

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Spur. Are you familiar with this paragraph in the link that you supplied:

The number of additional credit hours placed on such pilot’s custom line shall be limited to the following:

Trip(s) CH minus (R-day value times trip days in actual conflict with training) minus 12 CH training buffer.

It is the Company option to apply a custom line rule. If you bid a line that only conflicted say the last day of a long trip with ITU it benefits the Company to apply this rule and put additional trip(s) on your line instead of eating the whole trip. Only have heard of this being used in cases where the formula made sense to add days.
