I guess all you ATI guys and, ugh, Cappy guys are salivating over the possibility of getting the pay and benefits that we actually fought for. I'm sorry to dash your hopes but I don't see it happening. At this time, the performance and reputation of ABX is the only thing keeping this corporation alive. I just don't see management risking losing that by bringing in the second string.
This guy is actually correct in that ABX is the only airline in the family [ATSG] that makes money, performs well, etc. Eventually ATI will turn the corner...keep in mind that ATI had its arm cut off with the loss of BAX; no different than when ABX when thru its' downturn.
I don't agree with the 'second string' comment and believe it to be in bad taste and uncalled for. 3raser wanted to get under your thin skin with that comment...mission accomplished for him <sadly>.
As for ATI, CCI, and many others....the wish to be at ABX, or that their company had a CBA/working conditions similar to ABX, is definitely something to raise the bar to. Often I see many on here bashing ABX or saying they are doomed and a dinosaur. These guys are the ones whom I really worry about by viewing another carrier in the industry with a higher bar set...as the enemy. The reality is they need to work to get their status close to or higher than ABX. At least Atlas and a few others have made significant efforts to do so, keeping the industry at a standard; others have not (yes, ATI being one of them...).

This!
One minor example: (Yeah yeah, home basing, this and that ad nauseum blah blah blah)
$88K 10 Year+ Cappy Captain (if there is such a thing I don't know)
$126K 12 Year+ ATI Captain
$116K 12 Year+ ABX FIRST OFFICER!
$166K 12 Year+ ABX Captain
Yes, we are the enemy that must be brought down.
(Well, in Joe's eyes maybe.)

More like 9 or 11. The difference of 2 represents 2 dry leases that are coming back. The dry lease returns sound more like a when than an if so I would call it 11 planes that need a home!

I was told by a member of the ATI MEC (MEC = EXCO in teamster talk) That the CCIA and ATI union leaders were told the details for the ATI/CCIA merger plans by ATSG managers as early as December 2011 and that all three of those parties (ATI union leaders, CCIA union leaders and company managers) work on the merger plans for about six months before the plans were announced to the public May 10, 2012. I find that interesting because I am very naive about how those processes work. Since these mergers now seem to have an impact on my life, I find myself wanting to get a better understanding.
I don't doubt the necessity of the management and unions working behind the scenes for a period of time prior to announcing the plans, however, I am curious about why it is necessary to wait to make the announcements.
As we wait for the other shoe to drop, I want to have a better understanding of the process. Of course, I wonder if the ABX EXCO is currently aware of plans to merge ABX with ATI? How is the process different when two unions are involved instead of when both pilot groups are in the same union?
Can anyone shed any light on how these things work? I understand if some things need to be kept secret, but I think the process should be transparent. I've read what I could find about that subject but I still don't think I understand the process. I have to admit that i feel uncomfortable when union and management work together in secret.

Don't panic too soon...the CDG/EMA airframe is "supposed" to stay in Europe for additional flying....also heard a second 300 going to KMIA for DHL work. According to Hete 1 deal after the 1st of the year could require up to 3 airframes....and we are upgrading Captains so......on paper we are using all 300's at present time...200's a little tougher to find a home..but if the price is right...

Certainly, the rumors about new routes in Europe and MIA is good news if they come to fruition.
As far as the fact that ABX is upgrading captains without recalling First Officers, this is good news only for the few that are upgrading. Otherwise, it is an indication of a shrinking airline that is losing senior pilots through attrition without a need to even replace those who are retiring or losing their medicals or being fired. Those CA upgrades sound more like balancing a shrinking pilot group.
I also heard the comments about the new customer who may take up to 3 news planes after the first of the year. I think someone said the new work might start in mid-January. From what I see, that work looks tenuous at best. Nobody is saying the name of the customer, which airline will do the work or even which continent(s) the work will be performed on. I know it may be necessary to keep things quiet until the deal is done but, if they are going to start in mid-January, it seems like they would need to start moving the process along soon. I think it that could look like they are just trying to buy some time in the absence of solid good news.
The ATI/CCIA integrated seniority list should be released tomorrow. Maybe some real news will come out after that. Until some real news comes out, I continue to say that ATSG needs to find work for 11 airframes.

Dog. I always appreciate your positive outlook but I interpret some of your information differently.
