FedEx MD11 KSEA
Heard news from AMT prior to block out from the planet that an MD-11 (5??FE) had a center landing gear fail on landing at SEA. Said that the gear failed at the mounting points. Indicated that this is not the first one to have this happen.
Anyone have any news on this?

I saw the pictures fri pm and the aircraft Sat AM. Mount broke and the center gear folded back causing more damage. Maint says landing within limits. Poor Capt just drew the short straw. Debate is where to repair when NTSB is finished with their investigation. Nothing more to see here......move along....

N587FE.
Drag strut/brace failed causing centre gear to rotate rearwards. Like previously posted, during an autoland that was within limits structurally. EA has been written to ferry airplane with centre gear retracted to LAX for repair. Should depart today.

We had a similar thing a couple of years ago in the outfit I work for.
Happened during landing on an acceptance flight after the aircraft had been in SIN for maintenance. The center gear just folded back during an otherwise absolute normal landing using autobrake.
This lead to a procedure change; since then we are not allowed to use an autobrake setting higher than 'low' if the GW is below 180.0t (although the use of max. manual braking is ok). No more problems since then.
Do you other operators have a similar procedure? If you do, it might be really interesting to know if the center gear failed despite this procedure.
Cheers,
