FedEx Council Vote Info
Fellow FedExers I was asked to post this on APC for the author Captain Bob Ridder.
Fellow Council Members:
Next week is the nominating meeting for all three block representatives for our council. I am forwarding this letter to solicit your support to reelect me as the Block One representative. I sought this position because of my desire to bring a focused and directed effort to the MEC as we work towards this new contract which will benefit all 4600 of us FedEX pilots. I have been involved in FedEx ALPA union activities since the late 80’s and wanted to bring back the sense of cooperation, civility and teamwork necessary to achieve the contract we pilots deserve. My progression through all of the seat positions has taught me that this contract must improve the working lives of every pilot - senior, junior, and those in the foreign domiciles. Over the last six months, we have had two quarterly MEC meetings which have been very productive. I have contributed to the creation of an environment where all MEC members feel free to express differing opinions with civility. We, the MEC, are a functioning leadership entity doing the work of the FedEx pilots. My stabilizing and positive influence has helped us to effectively deal with major issues including the firing of the Hong Kong pilots, formulating contract proposals, electing a Vice Chairman, and appointing a new negotiating Chairman and team; and we have a lot of work ahead of us. We are heading into section six negotiations and even with opening a limited number of sections, there are myriad complex issues that must be negotiated. Among these are work rules, duty time, retirement and benefits, and 767 implementation. I feel that my personal mission is yet to be completed and that I have more to offer my fellow pilots as an MEC rep. It has been my honor to serve as Block 1 Rep. I am asking you to mail or bring to the October 9 Council Meeting your Nominating Ballot, and place my name on the ballot as Block 1 Representative, and also asking for your vote during the election.
Respectfully submitted,
Captain Bob Ridder

Endorsement for Capt Bob Ridder
Dear FedEx Council Members of LEC 7 (blocks 1, 4, and 8)
Next week is the very important nominating meeting for the block reps of your council. Although I am not a member of your council, I respectfully request that you once again consider Captain Bob Ridder as you Block 1 representative. My working relationship with Bob and our friendship for that matter, predates my employment here at FedEx (1986), extending far back to our service in the Marine Corps, so to say that I know this man’s character intimately would be a huge understatement. From the very beginning of the organizing effort, Bob played an integral role in the recognition and establishment of our union here at FedEx, eventually stepping up and serving as MEC Vice Chairman during a very challenging time, as we were entering mediation and clearly headed toward self-help. Over the years, Bob’s commitment to our crew force has never wavered, most recently evidenced by his willingness to once again answer the call of his peers and step up to fill the vacancy created in Block 1 by the difficult circumstances surrounding the recalls. Bob was asked to serve not only because of his strength of character, experience and integrity, but more importantly, his proven ability to deliver on a promise. Bob instinctively understood the need to move our group forward, heal the wounds, find compromise where there was once only conflict and made a bold promise of restoring a sense of cooperation, civility and teamwork to our process. Since that time, most independent observers would agree that through his strong leadership and the hard work and renewed commitment by our MEC reps and its officers, the MEC appears to be delivering on the promise of unity and firing on all cylinders. Unity by example, I like that concept, sign me up! I guess the old adage of “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it applies. Plainly put, we have a winning team in place, moving down the field and preparing to score with a contract that reflects the needs of all our pilots, so let’s keep the positive momentum going and show our support for those who have shown support for us. Please take the time to mail your ballot (deadline rapidly approaching) or better yet, bring your nominating ballot to the October 9th Council Meeting.
VOTE and be heard.
Thank you for your time,
Captain Joseph G. DePete

Based on the latest vote that message is still not very well received. If you had campaigned with all that truth I'm pretty sure you would have never been elected in the first place.
Question is, how are you gonna take it?
BTW, interesting take on who was wreaking havoc.
