And to think Fred started an airline, he should have known better. It would have been much cheaper to truck those checks. Now I know why he got a D on his thesis.

I don't really understand all of the legal ins and outs, but what happens if Express Products are sent on Ground? Wasn't there a reason that Express and Ground were kept seperate? Something to do with independent contractors at Ground and Ground employees unionizing?

This isnt reallynews. Several ramps such as CPR and GJT are planned to be turned over to ground too. Nothing really newsworthy....

It depends on what dollars your looking at. How do you figure that out? If you got 30 yrs and are over what age do you get the full pension as is?

Some rumors floating around the inter webs.....

- Memphis will go to night sort only; Indy will be day sort only

- 3000 layoffs/buyouts in Memphis (about the same as 2004)

- 63 stations transferring from Express to Ground

- Express couriers will go to part time

- Ground gets all the 3rd day shipments starting January

- Office is getting separated from the herd, in anticipation of spinning it off/selling it.

- LOTS of cuts in middle management - stations going down to one manager

I have not heard the couriers to part time rumor. I have heard that full time couriers will have to work split shifts in order to do pick ups and deliveries. As it stands now, AM couriers do mostly deliveries and PM couriers do mostly pickups.

If this is true, there will be quite a few unhappy frontline workers and probably more TV's thrown over the fence!

That is going back to pre-96 flying. There is no way to cut that much back and keep current flying levels. No way. 4A2B is coming back.

I have said that if UPS can fly their operation with less than 3000 pilots so can FedEx.

Yikes.
