I guess I'm glad we've moved passed unemployed people and make employed people the target. Those darn teachers are bringing everybody down. They should be in the soup line with everybody else. God forbid unemployed people get livable wage jobs and contribute to society. That would only increase tax revenue and reduce government handouts. I'd rather see teachers and other public employees make less and get a far inferior product. Reduce tax revenue and quality of education so we can be more on par with China. Wait. What?

We spend more on health care and education per person than any other country with poor results, the removal of risk and competition has resulted in a very expensive sub-par system in many respects.
Tax revenue has remained about the same as a percentage of GDP for decades, revenue is not the problem-gross overspending is a very dire problem.

Back on track-did Fred ever say anything of note on the 9th or 10th?

Please show an example of teacher targeting. No fair using Rahm quotes from last month.

Lag- It was Walker's playbook up here in Wisconsin. Pitted people that might make a little less against public unions that made a little bit more. Never talked jobs, and all that is changing is that a bunch of money disappeared. Working people will have less to spend, so a lot of businesses will see less as a result. Then businesses need fewer employees. Vicious cycle. The talking heads on AM radio in Milwaukee regarded teachers as union thugs.

To be fair, something needed to be done in regards to state finances. However, it was done in the worst possible way.

Drop all the bogus politics and it boils down to simple economics, clearly many of them are very poor with simple arithmetic. In fact it appears to be beyond their very limited comprehension.

Interesting take on the situation in Wisconsin

Up here in Wisconsin where I live, the not Milwaukee or Madison part, most places are hiring and can't find enough people to fill the jobs! So, what was it you were saying about "never about jobs" and "money disappearing"?

Looks like that statement is false.

Historical Source of Revenue as Share of GDP

Taxes have evolved but at the end of the day the middle class burden has increased. Reduced taxes for the middle class is smoke and mirrors. We are again promised more lower taxes. May happen.
Just some changes in deductions. You can also expect your jump seat to be a taxable benefit, $300 to $500 of taxable income each time you commute to work.

Think that won't happen? When I received unemployment during furlough it was tax free, today it would be taxable. Car loan, credit card interest, sales tax were all tax deductible, today they are not? Changes like that impact those earning $50,000 to $500,000 a year not those earning $50,000 to $500,000 a week.

Try again, total revenue to GDP has remained almost the same-spending has exploded.
Taxes have been played with often, but the total revenue to GDP has remained fairly constant.

What really counts at the end of the day is your " effective" tax rate. How much did that change?
