Will 4a2b be baaaaack!?!?
Sure sounds like the violins are tuning up for the 4a2b concerto...
"Frankly, it's a time to rally together to make our business model work, and to be flexible enough to evolve and thrive in a dramatically changing business environment. It's no different than the early days of FedEx when the required solution involved entrepreneurial-style dedication, passion for performance, and high-quality and highly engaged leadership. This is why our new Culture is vital to our future. It's not about words. It's about actions."

You better be flexible, dedicated, and action-oriented in this economy or 4a2b won't be our biggest concern.

Actually, they are not hiring....or rather they have hired all they will hire this year after the class of 4 in November.
4A2B is being bantered by some in the know for January 31, or February 1. They will not be hiring then...all the new hires will already be done with training.
I think it's a deliberate move their part. I've heard the rumor from several management types. I think it's a real possibility.

Not so long ago we ran a lot leaner than we do now. It was to ensure we didn't have too many sitting reserve off peak when things were slow.
Now we don't worry about such things because management has the flexibility of 4A2b. One difference now is the possibility of a rush to retire for our over 60 crowd. But that doesn't explain why we have so many FO's. I would have thought they'd learn something with the retirement of the DC10 but we seem to be surprised yet again by the dwindling 727 bidpack.
So look to a 4A2b announcement in Jan or Feb if you think we're going that direction. I wouldn't bet against it.

It's not the austerity, it's the massive tax hikes... 21% VAT, 56% top marginal income tax rate. At a mere 30K Euros income you're already at 40%. This and a slew of other tax increases aimed at businesses and financial instituitions is crushing economic activity.

That's part of the austerity.
