Hey Timbo,

Great recap of the DAL system, hence my strong suggestion to my purple buds is to avoid PBS like the plague.....for all the reasons you mention, PLUS : virtually no line purity or common crew. I've flown with 3 different guys on the same day at DAL......that's a lot of CRM work.

Hey, why don't you go [deleted] yourself. What I do is really not your business and if you think is you need to get a life. I got your coward hanging low. Why don't you get on it. You union fascist piece of [deleted]. You have no right to any insights into my personal life. If you don't get that I'll gladly explain it to you in back of the AOC when ever you need it. Just let me know via PM and I'll fill you in. Personally. I don't need to give you a reason you nosey calendar creeping [deleted]. Just let me know you communist [deleted].

We heard some of this stuff when we stopped schedule blocking. Not a whole lot of "personal information" on your schedule, just what trips you are flying, what days, and how many. We had a lot of guys picking up wayyy over the cap, and the only way to catch them at it, was to be able to self police, by looking at their scheules.

We stopped blocking about 10 years ago, and most of the schedule shenannigans stopped shortly after. We also use it to check up on our ALPA Reps. to be sure they are not pulling some stunts, like dropping a 4 day trip over Christmas for a 1 day meeting on Dec. 22.

That's good it worked there.

Here it would result in the termination of pilots due to harassment. Really. Our company likes us to pick up extra at straight time. They don't have to pay overtime and can hire fewer pilots. Our senior pilots tout it as a benefit of getting senior. Many look forward to the day they can do it. It's our culture.

Our calendar blocking issue is not about hours or days flown. As for union flying, I don't think our union workers block. They know some have pulled tricks in the past and they want transparency.

We heard those same arguments, in fact, we still hear it; "It's my RIGHT to fly as much as I want to..."

Most guys understand what happens when the top 50% flys more time, the bottom 50% suffers. So...where do you set the bar, for what is an acceptable amount of flying, and who gets to pick up more, and at what rate (straight time or greenslip rates) ?

That's where your culture will have to decide.

BUT...no matter which way you go, the only way to see if everyone is playing by the same rules, is to allow all pilots to view each-other's schedules.

OR...you could just have a 'free for all' and fly all the time you want, the company would love it but the bottom guys will be out of work, right?

We had guys doing it while some of our pilots were out on furlough! Later I flew with a copilot who was picking up extra trips by trip parking.

He said in 1993-96, he had been furloughed, while others were flying greenslips, so he is now going to pick up all the time he can...to 'get even'.

Funny he was also crying about stagnation and not being able to move up.... I guess it never occured to him that if we allow everyone senior to him to pick up an extra 30hrs. per month, he's NEVER going to move up. But that didn't keep him from doing it.

What goes around, comes around.

If you think anybody gets harassed at Fedex GROW A PAIR.
Try working at United where if you forget your ALPA pin and realize
It on the way to airport you call in sick because you catch so much
****.

I have a feeling chainsaw would be likely to harass somebody
first. Actually your post sounds pretty damn threatening.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of guy runs to his managers and says
"somebody emailed me and asked why I flew a disputed pairing"

We got a lot of growing up to do as a crew force. The OP isn't part of the problem and is a pretty moderate guy, far from a commie socialist pig.

My calendar has been open since day one. No one has ever harassed me about anything relating to my schedule.

As a matter of fact, I was PDO bumped from a trip in the coming week. The guy that bumped me mentioned that he had looked at my schedule and noted that he thought it might work. He was right and I told him to check my schedule anytime he wanted.
