Mike,
I didn't know that Fedex "issued" ALPA lanyards. Just so I understand you, if someone wears their college or military lanyard and not the ALPA one they are "abnormal" as indicated by their behavior? Maybe the pilot just has more love for his alma mater or the military branch he/she served in than his/her "agency shop" union. B**** please. You make me laugh.

Is wearing a military or school lanyard the norm? Nope. Neither is calendar blocking. How about those 777 lanyard wearers? Seeing someone with one of those typically elicits eye rolls around the room.
Not a fan of agency shop? I remember not so long ago when that was a must-have for the contract because we were sick of the freeloaders mooching off our dues and not paying their way. The moochers on the last contract were grandfathered, but no more new moochers will occur. Don't like the lost ability to vote with your feet? Unless you've volunteered for the committee you have an issue with and become an agent for the change you want, voting with your feet is a gutless way out.
Oh well, enough pig wrestling for today...

Your reading comprehension is lacking. I didn't say FedEx issued the lanyards, I said "standard issue ALPA lanyard". We get them from the Union. And yes, if you wear a lanyard other than that, you are different from the rest of the herd. I didn't say better or worse, just different. Again, the reading comprehension thing. In previous posts jungle (aka Mr Definition) was making a big deal out of why does calendar blocking or choice of lanyard draw any notice. My point was it's just not the norm and things that aren't the norm get noticed.

All the cheap little trinkets in the world aren't going to change a thing.
