Suggestions 4 dealing w/insecure Capt
#11
Are you kidding me?? This has already progressed into a SAFETY issue! Did he perform any of this in the cockpit?
Imagine if there was "some kind of incident" involving the bending of aircraft metal. They will review the tapes and decide PILOT ERROR because of poor communication between the two of you.
There has been an LCA fired for using obscenity at a new Capt on IOE. Your Capt should/could have been removed from the trip for his behavior. This should be a Mediated De-Brief as a minimum.
Pro-Stan will be of no help with a Non-Member, no matter how well intentioned they are.
Do not put up with this B.S. PM if you need to.
Sorry none of this input is humorous.

I agree with the Pro Stds, and CP call. I would add that after any mid-trip-profanity-rant you consider calling scheduling and request removal from the trip. Do it immediately upon reaching the hotel so the company has time to DH in a replacement FO, or better yet, a replacement captain. A friend had to do exactly this a few years back. The company backed him on being replaced. When it gets expensive to DH in replacement crewmembers, the company will do the right thing.

Fellow APC'rs,
have to cope with flying with a Capt I avoid since he is the Plague so, looking for humorous suggestions to get me through the week.
Why to avoid you ask? Well, he's so insecure that any question or communication outside the cockpit is an abrogation of his Capts authority. For example, acknowledging any ACARs message is a violation of his authority-last time I did it resulted in a 5 minute redfaced profane and obscenity filled rant. Or, another example, during what I thought was going to be the last trip I flew with him (resolution following the 5 minute rant BTW, "it's only 1 more leg you can cope"). But I digress, so, we were landing in EWR, his leg. He briefed his desired taxi routing into parking....so, after landing I requested said taxi routing and was approved by ground....which was a good thing because another 5 minute rant followed my communicating outside the cockpit without his express permission. I guess I was supposed to wait until being expressly told to request X, Y and Z into parking with ground. Might have been a Catch 22 scenario though....would be quotes "why didn't you request that taxi routing I briefed you on prior to top of descent-you think I'm just talking to hear myself talk, when I brief you to do something you do it Mister"
UNFORTUNATELY, double DH trip that I had to purchase NR tickets for so dropping it just isn't an option-damn the luck

The 757 has had a few of these type of Captains. On several occasions, the F/Os attempted to have a rational, professional discussion about their concerns after shutdown. When the Captains continued with their spittle-spraying diatribes, the F/Os calmly called the DO, told them the situation and said, for safety reasons, they could not continue with that individual. That's how you fix those morons.
Of course one notorious 777 to 757 Captain would call that a 'mutiny', but he's soon to retire anyway...
