HKG notices Pt2
#141
In his June 12, 2012, Positive Rate article, MEC Vice Chairman John Cardaci said, "Currently, we are talking with the company trying to come up with a procedure that gives clear guidance for those who operate in an FDA to follow." Notice he didn't say we're trying to clarify the existing procedure -- he said they're trying to come up with one.
Rumors are plentiful in Hong Kong -- a natural byproduct of an information vacuum.
But, no, I am not privy to what avenue the union is actually pursuing.
Short Takes
- The Negotiating Committee met for 3 days with the Company last week in interim talks. Topics discussed included ... an alternative standard for the FDA Housing Allowance.

There's a big pile of manure in the corridor, and you can't pass through the corridor without stepping in it. Do you clean up the manure, or do you knock holes in walls and go through other rooms to get to the other side? Going around it doesn't fix it.

a choice limited to one of two or more possibilities
What do you know about the ongoing discussions that leads you to believe that this is not a good plan to address the holes in the current system? Thanks for any insight.

I already told you my rumor. Swear to spend 250 days a year sitting by the phone waiting for the draft call and collect your housing allowance.
I cant figure out why we would negotiate anything before the Alaska Civil Rights Commission reams the company. Other than unconditional surrender.

Unknown, maybe we can still E Mail in our suggestions. I think there ought to be a bonus if your wife agrees to have any children in a commie hospital near the hotel stby facility. The company would have to agree not to send you on an over night only out and backs while she is in labor.

Tony, can you please share what you know? All I read is an "alternative" is being sought and that word means in short:
a choice limited to one of two or more possibilities

If FDXLAG's rumor is true, ask yourself how they're going to account for the 250 days? I know he was kidding about biometric readers in Hong Kong homes, but seriously, how would they count the days? Would you have to give an account to The Company as to your whereabouts for those days? Would signing an affadavit suffice, or would you have to supply some sort of proof? Would it apply to each dependent as well? Would vacation days spent in a neighboring country count? How invasive would this need to be? How invasive are we willing to let it be?
More questions, more problems, more days of Interim talks spent talking about anything BUT the areas of our CBA we chose 2 years ago to address. And 4 pilots are still fired, 1 still resigned, and another still suffering the consequences of having accepted the settlement.

[QUOTE=TonyC;1256530]They could come up with a dozen alternatives, possibilities, whatever you want to call them. We have six pilots who have resigned, been fired, or forced (by circumstances) to accept a settlement based on the CURRENT standard, and creating new standards doesn't help them.

Okay....what exactly do you think the union should do Tony? There are 4 guys fired. They have arbitration dates. Do tell your grand plan.
