All four disputed 777 FO trips are taken

P.S. I left five grammatical errors in my post, since that is what you seem to focus on. I figured I'd give you something to be concerned with, rather than the real issue of Disputed Pairing flying.

MD-11 & B-777 DPs - Jul 2012
MD-11 MEM
6/21July (can't find this anymore--maybe it got fixed)
68/22July
73/29July
463/10July
482/24July
777 MEM
25/11July
36/17July
36/24July
83/11July
Here ya go. As a technique, read the SIG notes when they come to your e-mail, and write down any DPs on your calendar printout so when you hawk Open Time, you KNOW not to pick these up. Don't fly DPs, folks. If you happen to get assigned them on Reserve, and happen to get fatigued when flying them, for safety's sake do the right thing and call fatigued. Even if you're not affected negatively, follow up with the right report. Maybe then they'll get fixed and we won't see them as DPs anymore.

I can't wait to get the chance to fly with you! Perhaps your number of posts equals the number of DPs you've flown? Go back to your desk. PS-I'm with Sluggo...stick to grammar LK!!

What exatly is a disputed pairing? I read about them a lot on here, but curious as to what they are. Can anyone give an example of one and maybe a brief explanation? I'm a regional guy....but FedEx hopeful. Thanks... Interesting stuff.

Ever heard the expression "Legal but not safe (or smart.)" That pretty much describes a DP. It meets the FARs and the limits of the CBA, but is a bad pairing for some reason, such as flying into a major hub city during the early morning arrival push after a 11 hour 3 or 4 leg night. Or an international pairing that may have legal layovers, but keeps switching your clock around from day to night. Our SIG (Scheduling improvement Group) has determined that a DP is onerous and should not be assigned. Until a several month process is finished, the DP cannot be used in normal lines or be assigned non-voluntarily to anyone but a Reserve pilot or a pilot on IOE. The union also requests pilots not voluntarily request such trips, but we still have that small minority who think their convenience or greed out-trumps unity.

Thanks for the explination! Educate the new guys and keep FedEx the premier airline to work for! I asked a former colleague of mine who is new at FDX and he wasn't quite sure what exactly defined a DP either. So that's why I asked on here. Keep up the unity. That is one of the things I admire most about the FedEx pilot group! Thanks again for the explanation.
If we could get just a little bit more unity() and maybe grow a few spines, as well...We would not have DP's. We would have hard parameters in our CBA, that the pairings and bidpacks would have to built to.

From a regional perspective ---you're a VERY unified group. At this level Regional X decides to "unify and stand our ground for a great contract with significant improvements." Next thing you know Regional Y undercuts and your routes are gone and guys are on the street. You at least don't have to worry about that. From the outside looking in FDX looks like a pretty great group of guys/gals.
I digress.... Good luck to you and I hope that these disputed pairings are rectified soon.
