Default MEM commuting getting harder for FDX pilots

Delta cutting more flights in and out of MEM. Accepted fares and commuting going to get even harder for the MEM commuters

I don't know how much this affects commuting, the real question is: what would happen if everyone tried to take the scheduled deadhead.

No, the REAL question is - how will the company schedule deadheads out of/into MEM in the first place if there are no flights going out/coming back in?

doesn't matter how many pilots actually fly on the scheduled DH flight - there has to be flights to put on our schedule before anyone can deviate anyway.

(reference IND and the lack of sufficient flights into/out of that airport - not enough to support a crew base there....)

Time to open up some new crew bases. Maybe Denver and Jacksonville for starters?

I think it will only really impact accepted fares for now...

If there are NO flights going into/out of MEM, then it'll be tough. But as long as there's ONE flight, they'll build pairings that schedule two or three times the number of actual available seats, and then rely on us to deviate.

And we'll oblige them by deviating.

Sad but true.

As long as you don't expect to park anywhere except the UPS lot.

I'd say it's about 50/50 now any way that your getting a delta flight on a DH anyway. They are too pricey if it's direct. They'll book one thru ATL or another carrier.

This should actually raise accepted fares for deadheads into and out of Memfo. Fewer seats into a market usually means less competition and higher fares.
