NRT Hard Landing - now it's ANA

Thank you. I laugh (chuckle) every time I hear the word 'misson' or 'sortie' here at FedEx. What conflict are they involved in that I'm not? All I can say is "The wars over man...."

(....and yes, there are no "missions" in the civilian world...and that's precisely why I used that word...plus, the virgule (/) with "customer" for those who may not understand the subtle sarcasm in my post).
Keep putting "safety first"!

>>Wasn't as simple as that. Landed at NRT around the same time. Probably just before the aircraft concerned.
Winds observed at 1000 ft agl were 240/58-72 kts, dropping down to 230/48 kts steady at 500 ft. And then there was a +/- 15 kts WS reported. On my observation it was more like +/- 20 kts windshear!
And the turbulence was huge. Moderate to moderate/severe turbulence REPORTED by 4 airplane before me from 500 ft to touchdown. I observed Moderate/Severe all the way down from 500 ft to touchdown.
And BTW the winds reported on ground were 220 to 250 at 28 gusting 44 kts. That's a direct crosswind for the runway in use-16R.
And the winds were spot on!
Airport should have been temporarily closed. <<
Doesn't sound like just another summer day...unless the guy either can't observe, can't hear a report correctly, or is stretching the truth.

Was in NRT that night, we received PIREPS and wx updates. Decided discretion was better than valor after hearing all the reports of severe turbulence and twenty knots wind shear at low altitudes. After discussing it with the other two crew we returned to ramp, uplifted more fuel and waited for an improvement. An hour later after things calmed down a bit we took off uneventfully, light turbulence with a plus twenty wind shear.

Looks to me like they just stopped flying the airplane after the right main hit the ground the first time. Probably had it in their heads that a proper bounced landing go around would lead to more misery in the bad conditions airborne. Some LUCKY SOBs to not kill themselves and everyone else on board.

A lot of what has been written in PPRUNE about that day is plain garbage, the more I speak with guys that flew that day and that landed in Narita the same day at and around the time of the accident, the more I laugh at comments like this, everyone is going by what that character Gestapo wrote and nobody is reading what individuals like EYbusdriver writes, it is our necessity for drama I guess
I have been on contract with Air Japan/ANA going on six years now, this company's culture is extremely conservative, they dispatch us with plenty of fuel and are always very conscious of turbulence reports, if at any point severe turbulence is reported, the decision wouldn't be for the crew to make, they would send you somewhere else, that nonsense of severe turbulence at 500 feet and the crew pressing on with the approach? guys listen, that is nonsense, an impossibility for one of these pilots to do something like that, it goes against everything that forms them as individuals and employees of this company, they can't do that anymore that sumo wrestlers can just carry on with the match without all the ceremonial tossing of the salt into the ring. I guarantee you it didn't happen.
I'm not saying the weather was CAVOK and beautiful, it was a challenging day as it does get in Narita from time to time, but outside of the earlier hours of the morning (up to 10 or 11 in the morning) where the gusts were at their peak, all airlines, not only ANA were operating their normal schedules.
