Roll Thunder. But I aint watching till game 7 of the finals.

I cant imagine calling in at the end of the stby period to find out if I am released but I guess now I will log on to vips at the end of my duty period and take a screen shot before I turn off the phone.

If you've ever placed a call to "Contract Enforcement" (Sir "D"), you would not only be disappointed in the "enforcement" enthusiasm Sir "D" exudes. After the call terminates, you begin to wonder how much purple is giving him under the table and what pictures does he have (and of who) that prevents him from getting sacked.

How much more clarification is needed when the assignment window is clearly stated in the contract?

My concern is for the new hire on probation getting a call from CRS after the 5th hour and telling this pilot that he has to fly the trip...even the Union is now in official agreement?!? Bad precedent.

Don't think this has happened before?

Witnessed an off going pilot, the FO, who mistakenly answered his phone approx 5 mins after his stby period and had CRS tell him he was assigned a trip, clearly outside the arpt stby assignment window. This pilot told him NO and then CRS told him they would call him back. They called back and said the CAPT was no longer avail so they were going to release him. Meanwhile the new hire SO was ready to head out to the jet.

Thanks for your input AFW

My experience - DT has always been very quick to take action with CRS on my behalf every time I've called with a question/discrepancy.

Just because he hasn't taken time, or doesn't have time, to shoot the breeze with me over the phone, doesn't mean he isn't interested in doing his job & helping me resolve the situation to my satisfaction.

(nor does it mean he's not a nice person)

& he has always followed-up after the fact.

Sounds like I'm the only FDX-ALPA member who gets that treatment from him.

YMMV I guess.

Well if you got that standby assignment while on reserve you are contractually obligated to call schedules at the end of the assignment.

25.M.3.f:

Post Duty Availability

A reserve pilot shall contact CRS at the completion of any assignment that terminates within his R-day.

I've had numerous positive experiences with DT too.

In fact, I'd much rather speak with DT then R*$e.

Fly now, Grieve later is a long standing mantra. I know of at least one individual that lost their job because they opted to make a stand and lost.

Very true. Seems pretty stupid, but you can get an IR if you do not call at the conclusion of your standby period, even if you are in the sleep rooms soundly sleeping, if you are on reserve.

It also applies if you get nailed (improperly IMHO) to do seat support in a simulator.

Ask our grievance folks. It has happened. The new 'just culture' is a code word for 'more IR's'.

I agree DT has always been cordial, helpful and pro-active on my behalf WRT CRS.

I got off the phone with contract enforcement on two separate occasions feeling as if I had just spoken with management or CRS. Basically I got, " yeah, I agree with you but that's not how the company interprets it". Isn't that the whole point of their existence???
