UPS A Great American Company

hmmm no Jungle I can't explain how those numbers where arrived at in detail. not even in loose terms. I am goggling info and reading press releases from around that time. It seems on some quotes the IPA only managed $117 million ( IPA press release from Thrush again 5/23/2010 )
One quote from a UPS press release dated 6/8/2009 :
UPS and the IPA subsequently agreed on cost-cutting targets totalling $131 million over the next three years.
Using a variety of voluntary steps, the IPA to date has identified savings totalling approximately $90 million dollars pending final calculations. Although the full three-year goal was not reached by last week's original June 2, 2009, deadline, UPS and the union have agreed there will be no furloughs through April 1, 2010, and that the IPA will continue to work this year to produce additional savings.
It is clear those numbers had almost nothing to do with reality when compared to known furlough savings.
I will leave the meaning of this to the reader.

I think it is worth noting that many numbers over undefined time frames have been offered without any real explanation of how they were derived.
It is clear those numbers had almost nothing to do with reality when compared to known furlough savings.

Weren't their numbers 300 furloughed until 2015. Or was it 500 out to 2015z ?
Hard to keep up with a moving target that no one can quantify anyway.
I do agree with other posters, now that UPS has used a furlough once, expect it to continue. As far as coming back L'il J ... I can't dispute that the money at UPS is good ... but only as long as it is coming in ! It has been a long time without a UPS paycheck for a bunch of us
