UPS A Great American Company

Why don't you use a little of that credibility you claim to answer those simple questions?
Integrity check?

Pretty smart for ALL to avoid recall as long as they can. At least until new hiring begins. Otherwise you could be hit with another furlough at the drop of a hat.
Now that they've tasted it, I expect UPS to furlough again.
The recovery is in so much trouble again there are rumblings Bush era tax cuts may be extended another year.

Agreed. I fear the last furloughed pilot won't be back on property before the next round of letters goes out. When the Euro collapses, the global economy will tank. TNT won't look like such a good deal (even paying for it in dollars).

Hey guys I was just trying to point out what a major role UPS plays in the daily lives of a lot of our consumers both domestic and international. The company along with FEDEX is a vital part of international commerce and the shipment of goods and services. How UPS treats their employees is another issue!
Interesting discussion to observe.

Dec 2012 is the 5 year point of the Age 65 change. That's means mandatory retirEments. I can see guys on mil bypassing, but how many others have civilian jobs making enough money to justify bypassing? Not many I bet.

Could you explain how each of those numbers were arrived at, and exactly what was involved?
300 pilots @ 150k= 45 million and as I'm sure you can understand 100 pilots @150k= 15 million. This is on an annual basis of course.
Pay attention now Shaggy, this is what is known as a credibility check.
Most of us can easily accept and forgive a simple error in arithmetic, such as in the counting of a small number of letters, it is failures of integrity that do permanent damage.

One quote from a UPS press release dated 6/8/2009 :
UPS and the IPA subsequently agreed on cost-cutting targets totalling $131 million over the next three years.
Using a variety of voluntary steps, the IPA to date has identified savings totalling approximately $90 million dollars pending final calculations. Although the full three-year goal was not reached by last week's original June 2, 2009, deadline, UPS and the union have agreed there will be no furloughs through April 1, 2010, and that the IPA will continue to work this year to produce additional savings.
