I also hope no one from KY is reading this to take in all the slanderous comments.

[QUOTE=brown tale;73777]You are specifically asked these questions during the hiring process. If you lie and it is uncovered later it will be grounds for immediate termination.

Not that I am hiding behind the keyboard.....but who cares if they are? Do you know my name? I sure don't know yours. I really don't think that "big brother" cares what goes on here anyway(as some have noted). You guys need to stop being so paranoid. The whole point of a forum is to dialogue your thoughts and feelings, since you can't do it at work. please post your comment about how they ARE watching us here

Do you guys have the same last name? My point is this: Why does UPS(or any employer for that matter) need to know that he is your uncle? and this one: hmmm; i don't remember seeing that on the app, but i guess if they did ask, then you would have to be honest. I would think that an uncle is far enough removed, however
It really doesn't matter how we feel about nepotism, UPS's hiring policy has a nepotism clause in it. Plain and simple.

HotMamaPilot, Don't be too hard on him. I flew for UPS for a while and believe me, they are watching you. They have spies everywhere: at the hotel you stay at, at the cafe; at the bars around the hotel, etc. The good news is that most people in Kentucky can't read, so this web site will probably go unnoticed by their corporate spies.

You might start buying him breakfasts. Like lots of bacon and eggs. Also buy his cigarettes and maybe even offer to get him a used Harley. Gallows humor. Get to work on building your flight time and get that degree.

Sioux,
My first cousin is a captain for UPS so I called their HR department before even submitting my application. They told me that first cousins are not considered family and the nepotism clause did not apply.
Sorry, I don't know about the uncle though. Get the number for the UPS HR department from your uncle and call them for a definitive answer.
As far as buying your uncle fried chicken, ding dongs and other healthy "life extending foods," you would be that much closer to a higher seniority number!
