Default FDX-Vacation/Training Buffers

Read the contract, and think I have the answer, but want to ask the experts here.

Can I schedule recurrent training the day after my vacation ends?

Vacation (after slide) ends 16 May. Can I do a 0900 Ground School on the 17th? Is there any conflict with either a vacation buffer or training buffer? I can't find any, so I think I'm okay to do this, but don't want to get hosed by making a conflict.

Thanks.

Call ALPA Contract Enforcement & ask them if you want the real answer.

If you bid VTO or reserve, you'll have a buffer. But, you can waive it.

However, you will be going to GWOE training...That's "GLOBAL", as in international. You may want to check with someone to see if that would qualify for the non waivable international buffer.

I believe there is a 12 hour training buffer which is Not waiverable.

If vacation ends at 0100, i do not think you can have a Training event at 0900.
If your vacation ends at 0100lcl 16 May, you should be fine for 0900lcl 17 May.

This was the crux of my question. The applicable section of the contract that I found was 11.E.11:

To me, vacation would be "off" time, but I'm no lawyer.

This is in the recurrent training bid instructions:

"Sessions in a vacation footprint will not be awarded. Training during a vacation expansion is allowed if bid by the pilot."

I'd call them but I think in your case the training starts outside the slid vacation footprint.
