I agree with you that the union has mishandled this mess and the new hires who went to ABX without knowing what they were doing were not to blame. As for the ones who went there knowing there was pilots out on furlough, I won't feel sorry for them if they end up on the street. In fact, I think that would be an appropriate thing to happen.
If you have that information as fact, than it is incumbent on you to make it known, or have the integrity to stop posting it. Short of a strike and picket line, I doubt you'd find a new hire that is aware of people out on furlough; let alone your contract's recall provisions.

Perhaps the people you should be venting your anger at are the two previous ABX ExCo Chairmen who left LoA's unfinished and unsigned with the company for several years that addressed these issues and refused to do anything about them when they were told to.

So the PREVIOUS 1224 leadership...all ABX...created the mess. No one else. Does Hete deserve a share? Probably. Your leadership was clearly more interested in poking him in the eye than watching out for your interests and that gave him the perfect excuse to do nothing. Why should he?

So now it's up to the new 1224 leadership to clean up your mess. You are blaming them and the International for your woes. And stirring up a level of contempt against two new hires for it.

Classy.

Karma my a$$

To the rest of you people thinking with a rational mind regarding today's situation it would be wise to stay back until their is a resolution.
That's always been the prevailing attitude, "I know what I'm dealing with".

You guys have always been condescending, "we're always right" and "Joe loves us."

It's Karma, plain and simple.

ATCsaidDoWhat I'm pretty sure this issue doesn't have anything to do with any unsigned or unfinished LoA's. This is just a straight up recall rights issue. This is spelled out in the CBA and it's cut and dried:

SECTION B. RECALL
Recall from furlough shall be accomplished in order of seniority and prior to the employment of new hires. Crewmembers furloughed prior to the completion of their probationary period shall be required to complete the remainder of their probationary period subsequent to recall.

This is the section that has been violated. I don't think anyone involved in this matter would argue against that. The current leadership of 1224 has a duty to defend the recall rights of the furloughed pilots. So far, they have not. Each day that passes is another day in which replacement workers enjoy employment at ABX while 2 dozen pilots remain furloughed and ready to return.

I think what you fail to grasp is that those unsigned LoA's may not have direct impact, but they give Hete the leverage to do things. You should be asking your previous leadership why they let your fellow pilots down.

As to your posts, you are stating an opinion that so far, you have yet to provide a single fact to support, just your personal supposition and inuendo.

My guess would be that you have not had a single conversation with the leadership of your Local; which starts with your ExCo. Have you? What have they said? That is where the responsibility lies FIRST...with your ExCo. And then to the leadership of the Local, who only gets involved when the ExCo REQUESTS their input.

So at this point, armed with no facts, you are pounding your drum...not for the 24 on furlough, but to make noise. Sadly, you sound like many in our profession today; sitting on the bench, don't like paying dues, won't get involved unless there's something in it for you and willing to blame everyone else.

My friend. I have stated facts.

It is a fact that on March 14th, 2012, two new hire pilots started working at ABX.

It is a fact that on March 14th, 2012, there were approximately 24 furloughed pilots who were ready to return to ABX.

It is a fact that this was a violation of the recall procedure in the CBA.

I don't believe anyone will dispute those facts.

I totally agree with you that the EXCO should do something about this. If I accidentally cast too broad a net about who should be responsible for defending the recall rights of furloughed pilots, I apologize.

Today is the 15th day that replacement workers are enjoying work at ABX while 2 dozen pilots remain furloughed and ready to return.

They're probably scheduling interviews too. Do you have your application in?
