FDX - OPEN TIME Lockout
#42
Back to the original thread theme, almost. There is also a daily limit (350ish) on the number of Trip Recaps you can examine with a control code input required every 50 recaps (was an earlier APC thread on this one)
In the MD11, most months there are often more that 350 trips and during peak, there are more than 700 trips available for view/add. I complained via the union that one could not examine/download all the actual trip recaps in one session/day during the 48-hour view/add window.
The answer received was not, "you are right; it is a meaningless, arbitrary limit that we will happily remove". The answer was that only a couple of folks exceeded the limit in the previous 2 months and thus there is no need to rescind the limit [just because we can was implied].
But Hope springs eternal-- these items are supposed to be added to the Section 6 Things to Do list.

Found in contract
I still would like to know why lockout after 300 attempts. I do not believe this is in the contract. Moreover, what if they decide to do it after 5 attempts. Another reason for extremely specific language in a contract, but why digress.
FWIW I did recently get a "good deal," schedule is unblocked, and man was I lucky to get it.
However, this frozen trip thing does need to go. I suggest a side letter of agreement stating that after bid pack printing, "charter flights" must be published unfrozen at 1500 c.s.t. every day or not at all. (or pick another standard time that makes sense). And yes, I agree with App dude.

I was complaining on the crew bus about the frozen charters and how trips shouldn’t be placed in open time unless they were actually open. *I was reminded that’s exactly how it was done pre-contract. *CRS held trips*out of open time*that were in the planning stages, but during negotiations the company was accused of*hiding open time and we ended up with Sec 25.G.2.b.iii added into the contract. Perhaps we should reconsider our position?

I agree that a small group of individuals are getting a large number of good deals, but I don't think all of them are cheating the system - some drop their entire lines and then watch and wait - that's what a few I've met have told me, and I have no reason to question their integrity. However, I'm not naive, and think others are getting tipped off just ahead of trips being unfrozen or dropped into open time. It's wrong, but why should the company care, the trips are being flown so they have no incentive to even look into it, if they did it would have been stopped a couple of years ago. All they would have to do is look back at the individuals who got certain trips and then see who was working CRS or Charters when they were awarded the trip or just before. I'd bet a pattern would emerge rapidly, now they have probable cause to look at cell phone records and I'd bet another pattern would emerge, text messages between certain schedulers and those "lucky" pilots always getting the good deal trips. Not rocket science, but as I said, why should they care - the boxes are moving. When they have an incentive they investigate with vengence, just ask the HKG folks. Just my two cents - I'd just like us all to have the same chance to adjust our bid line and then may the fastest win!
