FDX - Brillance of FDA LOA 1
#11
Max,
Not an attorney...just a pilot like you. However, if we are already in place, doing the job well, and our pilots are happy, we offer a little more security to the company under the RLA than a strike-prone Euro company.
When you start delving into "if they do that, we would do this..." I get uncomfortable. I don't feel like negotiating or discussing contingencies in public (not that I am privy any more to anything anyway.) What I can say is that in business if I can eliminate the risk of the unknown with a solid known I"m probably going to do so. Mergers, euro-labor laws, etc are all unknowns. Remember the cancelled Paris bid after our "sure thing" RLA waiver failed? I think if FedEx pilots do what FedEx pilots do--that is be be professional, mission oriented, and capable--we'll be successful in both Europe and China.
Good idea to support the interim contract or stupid idea, I"m just sharing where I was on the issue. I wrote a long piece on "leverage" a while back that sort of of sums up my thoughts, and points out where i thought I did okay and a few goofs on the way too. I hated LOA 1, and I thought the last deal offered was "fair". I'm just pointing out a few of the reasons why.
And, of course--I may be wrong.

So why did we give this away so cheap? That is my problem with the latest TA.

Are you kidding after we allow the 146 the company will buy up all the ones in the scrap yard and they will start taking over the IND routes. ALPA will say oops we didnt foresee that.

After this comment (from today's Chairman's Message):
"The major concern to FedEx pilots is scope. Specifically, what would a purchase or partial purchase mean to FedEx pilots? Unfortunately, when all is added up it equals grey, it all depends on many factors."
How does our "Industry Leading Scope" and the decision to give the company an FDA so cheap look now?

Maybe you should ask BC the next time you see him. Via LEC 7 message line we all know CB and TH are big fans of BC's work too.
I don't want to confuse anyone with facts but Asia is still short of pilots while Europe has more than they need.

That would be our MEC Chairman or are you not on the union email list?
GAVE is the appropriate word. A 6% pay raise offset by the other give backs was a loss for us! But, I'm glad you are happy with only 6%
You have absolutely no clue who I am if you think I am a fan of BC or would even be in the same room with him. Just call me one of the "Proponents of Hysteria" or a 32%
For the record I voted no in 2006 and every time since then.
Here is a fact for you:
FedEx wants FedEx pilots flying FedEx freight. It doesn't matter how many pilots they have in Europe. The company wants a crewforce that won't go on strike because it is Tuesday!

Exactly, even if we can't get it right ourselves, that fact might save us!
