Personally, I do not think that taking it to the membership is taking it public. I would rather have it out in the open vs behind closed doors.

I think PeterH is making it personal when no personal attack was intended.

Where do you get your 98% figure from? APC

No generalities, only specific instances please. In some cases I see your point.

The MEC votes to determine who filles the MEC officer and NC Chair positions. They also determine the direction of the union and NC. They did that. The MEC recently voted unanimously for the 3%. Then they discussed whether they should change the MEC officers. Apparently they decided to keep them and the NC. WE SHOULD ALL RALLY AROUND THE MECs DECISION. If you don't like it, run against the block reps you think aren't in touch. PERIOD. That's not to say vote a certain way on LOA's or CBA's. That's a separate issue. But for union reps to get the most out of the company and to offer the best LOA's and CBA's they can, they need our support. CB and TH had my support until they went totally off the reservation.

Right after those meetings, LEC 7 comes out and says the MEC officers have failed in their leadership role and has been saying the NC is accomplishing nothing (who receive their direction from the MEC) for some time. I'm sorry CB and TH were unable to win over the MEC members to their point of view, but why publicly complain about not getting their way? What is the agenda? We are being asked to distrust our leadership the MEC has put in place. We are being asked to distrust our entire MEC. Looks they are trying to burn house down to me.

I don't see the effect as positive in any way unless you think this political campaigning for CB and TH is positive.

Accusing Pete of wrong doing was very personal.

I do not know who is right, but have no problem with a union officer bringing it to the membership. If it turns out that their motives are unjust, then I am hopeful that that too will be brought up to the membership and that it is dealt with properly.

In part, Article IV of the ALPA Code of Ethics states: An Air Line Pilot will conduct his affairs with other members of the profession and with ALPA in such a manner as to bring credit to the profession and ALPA as well as to himself. He will not falsely or maliciously injure the professional reputation, prospects, or job security of another pilot, yet if he knows of professional incompetence or conduct detrimental to the profession or to ALPA, he will not shrink from revealing this to the proper authorities within ALPA, so that the weak member may be brought up to the standards demanded, or ALPA and the profession alike may be rid of one unworthy to share its rewards.

Has anything CB or TH done meet this standard?

No where have they personally gone after any committee members. They stated that the current administration is allowing committee volunteers to use trip removal on holidays and think this is fiscally wrong. They nowhere singled anyone out or accused anyone of wrong doing - they are just pointing out what they think is bad policy.

I am sorry if PeterH took this as a personal attack but I don't see it as one!

I am not defending CB and TH because I think they should stay. I just think this whole mess on APC has been one-sided and highly skewed with too much emotion and no rational thinking involved.

MaxKts,

Why do you think only two guys see the wrong doing? There are a lot of good guys working within the union that would stand and fight with CB and TH if there was improper activity. Instead ZERO are standing with them, and 100% of the MEC and volunteers are against them. Find me 1 union officer or committee member that sides with them! ONE
I've written both guys and asked that question, so far no answer!
They need to do the honorable thing and resign, before they are recalled.
IMHO

So - to you it is OK that committee members can use trip removal to be home for the holidays?
