The ATI, CCIA merger is alreay occurring. An integration plan has already been submitted to the FAA and a some CCIA people are already in LIT.
I've heard that CCIA people will still have operational control while ATI flight controllers actually do the paperwork/ff for about 60 days. Then ATI will take over full operational control once the FAA signs off on it.
While the 757 is a 1 for 1, you need to count the other 767s coming in property for the possible growth. There is at least one 767-300 @ ILN right now and two more are being ferried in over the next few weeks by ATI. Granted ATSG has final say who gets them but......
Another thing is, as far as we've all heard, CCIA has 5-6 lines of DHL 727 flying and two with the 757. In addition there are two 757s just sitting around that we can offer up once they are put on the ATI's certificate.
My personal feeling is that ATI and ABX will be housed in the same building down the road but will be two separate companies. The ops departments are completely different (resources and automation) and basically ATI can do a lot of flights cheaper then ABX.
Will be interesting to see going forward.

Also, it's not as simple as just putting them on ATI's certificate. The union will have the ugly part of merging people and list...which is always difficult...even more so when both parties have folks on furlough.
Since ATI is doing flights so much cheaper than ABX....why is ATI furloughing and ABX hiring?
Thank you Carnac

ATI is somehow going to "own" CCIA, hence the move to LIT. This is happening as we speak. Right now some upper management from CCIA are already in LIT and the first "joint" meeting occurred last week sometime. I don't think anyone knows what is going to happen certificate wise. There are talks of an acceptance waver (something like that) from the FAA for the 757s. The general jist, though, is that the CCIA certificate will be no more once it is all figured out how to do it.
I can only guess that CCIA will operate under their current certificate for the time being and ATI will be contracted to do all flight planning/flight following per the 121 supplemental regs. This rumor has been floating around the most.
Just heard about the cancelled classes as well which still hasn't been made official. It doesn't make sense either since its seems we can’t staff the airplanes we currently have and are in the process of adding at least one more B763 and probably more.

Seems like a lot of supplemental carriers are starting to have "staffing" issues so far this week

I'm glad to report that the furlough problem with ABX/ATI pilots is resolved. All new hires will now be after recalls and completely legitimate.
With that said, those of you who retreated into the forest after hearing of the controversy may again come forward and begin discussing your interview experiences. It may be helpful to those vying for a job.
