I'm guessing the military guy with all T-prop time will get hired before the civilian guy with all T-prop time?

Not necessarily. My sim partner way back in initial training had been flying checks and stuff around Alaska in a 1900. Nothing larger or jet powered.

Haven't been here 20 years yet... it'll be 12 years next month. Junior CA is at 18 years currently.

Really? Maybe you need an ATP for a type on the 75/76 then, according to my CKA and Fed who gave me the check ride.

No, they are (and have always been) completely separate things, however, the type ride is essentially an ATP ride, so it would be foolish not to get both if you did not have an ATP.

On a type ride you must perform up to ATP PTS, so if you meet all the requirements for an ATP, you might as well get it, since you are filling out the 8710 anyway.

A private pilot could get a 75/76 type, they would still need to perform to ATP PTS, even if they weren't going for, or eligible for, an ATP certificate.

Had an acquaintance who got on with AA in 1987. 23 years old, 1,500 total with 1,000 in Lears. Had an A and P and a 4 year degree.

Yeah, he has been with them for almost 25 years and he's only 48. Lucky guy.....
