Yeah, I knew what you meant. It would be tough if i was getting furloughed in that I will be limited with no turbine PIC. And the way things are looking, at least another 5-7 years to the most junior CA upgrade here at AA (I celebrate my 12th year here next month.)
Thanks again for all the Fedex intel, you guys sound like a kick a$$ pilot group!

I'm surprised to hear anyone (in this day and age) could end up in the right seat of a 121 carrier without some kind (RJ, turboprop, military?) of turbine PIC time!*?

Funny story, I actually got my ATP in 2008 when I checked out on the 75/76... AA started typing all F/Os anytime they checked out on a new aircraft... you need an ATP for a type rating... so they had to have a Fed in the sim on my checkride, which became an ATP checkride. It was kind of embarrassing, to say the least.

Been in the right seat of a 121 carrier since 1990, they were called commuters back then. 10 years later I had finally made it to a large 121 airline. I had to "hang out" at the commuter to make sure I had the 1000 turbine PIC before moving on, upgrades were SLOW.
Which brings me to a highly "unbalanced" experience in terms of time in seat.
Without a current logbook to reference, I would estimate 12000 total. With over 10000 of that as turbine SIC (jet & prop).
So there are surely some RJ Captains with half as much total time as myself ... but they have 5 times the turbine PIC in half that time. Who would FedEx hire ?
By now it doesn't matter anymore, I am old and untrainable after UPS ...

Some of us were dealt some very different cards throughout the 1990s ...

Seems like there is always the ole catch 22 in this industry. I never have understood what is so magical about 1000 PIC turbine.
