More cracks found in Airbus A380 wings (and EADS insists they're still safe to fly)
Reuters ^ | January 19, 2012 | Tim Hepher, Cyril Altmeyer, Harry Suhartono

Airbus said on Thursday it had discovered more cracks in the wings of A380 superjumbo aircraft but insisted the world's largest jetliner remained safe to fly.

The announcement comes two weeks after tiny cracks were first reported in the wings of the 525-seat, double-decker aircraft, which entered service just over four years ago.

I still wish we had them. That way, "Chuck's Varsity A-Team" could get their REALLY BIG PAY RATE and we'd all be more senior on the Mad-Dog!

It's an L shape bracket on a top wing rib that the upper wing skin attaches too. Either the bracket will be beefed up and replaced, or there is a lot more going on structurally then they planned for.

Isn't this the aircraft that failed to meet the design maximum wing loading ... failed just short of it AND Airbus didn't have to test another wing because they beefed up the failed member?

The Aussies call it the flying vagina.

It's quite ugly to look at but rather nice once you're inside.
